One of more peculiar Thai customs is screening movies as an offering for the dead. This usually happens at the temple during the customary 100-day period when the body rests in the coffin awaiting its cremation. Temple screenings can also be organised during fairs and festivals. Occasionally films are projected to appease various animistic deities, such as, for instance, snake gods. This means loads of occasions to catch up on the movies you missed in the cinema.
